Welcome – it’s good to see you!
I’m not entirely sure where we’re going, but if you want to
tag along, it should be an interesting trip.
Good to have you!
A little background first.
I’m a GRITS – girl raised in the south.
In my case southeast, as in East Tennessee. Although I had the bad luck to be born
slightly north of the Mason-Dixon Line due to a temporary parental migration, I
come from a long line of northeastern East Tennessee women, born and bred in
the mountain regions to be independent, self-sufficient, and blunt. The line bred true, and I am much like my
grandmother and mother before me. Which
is an odd thing to be in the modern world in which I make my way.
As for the “no longer a grits” moniker…I’m on the upward
side of 55. No longer a girl in years,
although I feel little difference until I look in a mirror or something calls
my attention to my age.
I have a lot to say on many subjects, from being a parent
to grown children, to becoming a grandmother, to becoming a (very) reluctant semi-parent
to my own remaining parent. If you think this
sounds like your own stage of life and you might want to contribute to the
conversation, come on in and sit awhile! Make yourself comfortable - would you like a glass of tea?
